Street, Avenue, Court, Drive... How do they differ?

Sometimes the road types can give you a bit of information about their neighbourhoods. Court (ct) and Place (pl) end in cul-de-sac and will have less traffic than other thoroughfares. Streets (st) usually have buildings on both sides and can be noisy. Drives (dr) are usually long, winding roads which can add a bit of excitement to your daily commute.


Below are some of the most common road types. These naming conventions are not always strictly followed but are pretty common in most cities in North America.
